It's a BOOK

It's a BOOK Jack Ass! 
I could not have said it better myself!  I know I am going to start the school year off next year with this book.  My freshman students are going to love it!  This book summarizes what I go through  everyday in the classroom with students that would much rather be plugged in somewhere or into something than read a book.  You can't scroll down or plug it in - JUST READ!  Meta fiction - how plugged in are you?  When was the last time you sat down to read something just to read it? 

The idea of Meta fiction is not something new to me, I guess I had just not thought of it those terms.  I think some books just seem to have that underlying thread of reality - the real life stuff that people go through that is at times joyous and at times so painful you cannot even breath.  Meta fiction explores that and actually allows the reader to make their own connection and conclusion.  The character realizes something about his or herself and so does the reader.

That is why I love reading.
